The ski season in Elbrus all-season resort in Kabardino-Balkaria is going on. The pistes from the Gara-Bashi station at an altitude of 3,847 meters to the Mir station were opened for the resort guests, where natural snow cover opens possibilities for full-fledged skiing.

'The operation of the piste route from Mir station down to the Krugozor station stopped just yesterday, on May 16, and the highest in Europe ropeway that was opened this year is still lifting the tourists to the high mountain ski area at 3,847 meters. This unique project, which Northern Caucasus Resorts JSC launched just last summer, allows Russian ski and snowboard fans to ride in the mountains of Kabardino-Balkaria in May and even in June, when other national resorts have already closed their slopes’, Oleg Gorchev, the Director General of JSC NCR, said. He said that, from January till the end of April, more than 50,000 visitors visited Stage 3 of the ropeway Mir Station - Gara-Bashi Station, and the season continues.

According to Khisa Bekkaeva, the Director General of Elbrus Resort JSC, during the May holidays, the load of the hotels in the Elbrus region was almost as high as during the New Year period. ‘The most dedicated fans of mountain skiing and snowboarding continue skiing in May that is available in this period in Kabardino-Balkaria only. We shall be providing this opportunity jointly with JSC NCR as the weather permits. It is favorable for the time being,’ the head of the company added.

Below the Mir station, no slope servicing and piste security actions shall be taken by the Elbrus Resort company, the snow compacting equipment has also ceased its operation in this area. In this regard, for security reasons, the tourists are advised to confine themselves to skiing to the Mir Station and then to use the first and the second stage of the ropeways for descending from the Mir station.
