Alexander Khloponin invited to visit the resorts of the North Caucasus

Alexander Khloponin, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation, proposed to the Russian people to visit the ski resorts of the North Caucasus. He stated this on the air of Russia-24 TV channel calling tourism as one of two perspective branches of economic activities in the region.

‘Of course we are talking about tourism. The Caucasus has its culture and traditions and we do have something worth showing in the Caucasus,’ he said and also added that the tourism sector in the North Caucasus is on the rise now. ‘We have something worth showing. You say that we have Sochi. You are right, Sochi is a very high quality winter ski resort but it is nonetheless within another price segment. And we can show Arkhyz, Elbrus, Dombai. Now we are developing a resort in the Chechen Republic. This is what one should see. They are also modern resorts of European level. They are of sufficient quality and very beautiful,’ he said.

Besides, the Deputy Chairman of the Government called tourism among two priority branches of economic activities for investments. ‘It is possible to work in the Caucasus within such segments of the economy that are real. Moreover, tourism is also an industry that can actually integrate a large number of employed people,’ said the curator of the North Caucasus in the Russian Government.
